Dating back to the period of Ravana (around 5000 years ago), the Kanniya Hot Springs finds it mention in the Ramayana – one of the most iconic Hindu Mythology books.

It is believed the hot springs emerged when Ravana struck the land with his sword. Others believe that the site was an ancient Buddhist site. Either ways, the place is rooted in history and is a pleasure to see. Touch a part of this history as you come here to explore the archeological ruins and freshen up with the hot spring water.

  • Even though it is a hot spring, do dress conservatively (nudity or wearing swimsuits would cause an issue)

  • Unusual place to visit off the normal tourist route. It has lost it's original grandeur but is still popular. There is a market to walk through before you get to the entrance with some interesting touristy bits.

  • Quite good place but nothing much to do... having a bath is not practical and just pour some water to feel the heat and coming back is fine. if you really wanna take a bath take a bucket for yourself.

  • Visited there multiple times(I live just ~20km away). Maintained by Army. Place has multiple hot water wells. Place is clean and organized. Have to buy tickets(very cheap). Overall a good place.

  • Very nice place. Well organized now, when compared to previous visits. The slight differences in temperatures across all 7 wells can be felt still.

  • God Made Natural Creatures. must visit and experienced the hot levels of water. Amazing#
