Better known as the North Norwegian Art Museum, it was established in 1985 with a strong mission of spreading and promoting the importance of visual and arts and crafts in this region. This is the youngest art museum of the country and is known for a number of temporary as well permanent art collections.

Te temporary art collections mostly include historical and contemporary art. The permanent collection is also spread all across the floors where works by famous artists such as Peder Balke, Adelsteen Normann and Olav Christopher Jensenn find place. This collection not only includes the museum’s own collections but also contributions from the National Art Museum and other art societies and foundations.

Educative and interactive events and programs are very frequently put up in the museum premises only.
