The Botaniske Hage or the Northern Alpine- Botanical Garden is the northernmost botanical garden of the world. It is run by Tromso University Museum and was set up in 1994. This garden displays Arctic and Alpine plants and shrubs that are the native varieties of the Northern Hemisphere.

This region just to the north coast of Alaska is known for its extreme Arctic climate. Here this is however a little moderated by the flow of the branch of Gulf Stream. During a certain period of the year staying here is next to impossible due to the heavy snow. The other half however the sun is brighter and the ice here melts. This is the time when you can actually visit these gardens and enjoy the charm of it.

The main activity is enjoying nature but apart from this the place also enables you to get a mesmerizing view of the whole valley and also the surrounding mountains.
