Mount Adams has several inactive lava tubes some of which were created 20,000 years ago. One of them is the Guler Ice Caves which is the area’s main tourist cave and visitors from far and wide visit mainly for the Crystal Grotto. Temperatures can be close to freezing and magnificent displays of varied formations of ice as the melting snow drips from the above chamber is a sight to behold. Near the very entrance of the cave, there’s an interpretive sign which lists the cave’s detailed map. Most of the visitors here at Guler Ice Caves descend the ladder near the entrance pit and from there visit the Crystal Grotto. Other than that, you can explore the Crack Room, The Tube and more.
