The Gate Pass is the gateway to the Tucson Mountains and consists of a scenic route which overlooks the whole city of Tucson. This gate was started in the late 19th century by Thomas Gates as a shortcut to reach the Tucson Mountains. The pass has been featured in many popular TV series and is one of the ‘must-sees’ if you like small road trips.

As always. The trip to Gates pass was as good as a usually gets. As you ascend the road up to the Gates pass you see the beautiful sahuaros that stand like soldiers to welcome you into a beautiful sunset.
Breathtaking, been here a long time and will never tire of the sunsets riding thru the pass on the back of a bike.
A great place to share with out of town guests. We usually grab lunch from Eegee's on Silverbell before driving out to enjoy the scenery. Perfect place to see saguaro cactus up close, and great place to watch the sunset.
Those 1 star reviews must be a mistake...this place is 5 stars all the way and a must do if you are in Tucson! It’s just a 10 minute drive from downtown, or it’s on your way if you are going from town out to Old Tucson, the Arizona-Sonoran Dessert Museum or Saguaro National Park Red Hills Visitor Center. Stop here, take in some incredible views, and if you have time hike up to see even more! It’s so easily accessible, and one of my favorite vistas ever without having to pay a Park Fee to get in, or even a parking fee!
Amazing view especially at Sunset. Needs more pullouts and parking though
