Tohono Chul Reviews & Ratings
Tohono Chul is a delight that cannot be missed. The gardens feature wonderful examples of native and desert-friendly plants through winding trails. You'll pass through everything from cactus and butterfly gardens to ripirian areas and learn about the plants and their history and uses along the way. At the far end of the site is an art gallery, which is worth a visit, and in the courtyard, the gift shop has local specialties. If you've been inspired by your visit, Tohono Chul nursery has native plants for sale. No visit is complete without stopping in at the restaurant, which has indoor seating and also outdoor seating in the courtyard or in the back under the trees. Beautiful. The menu offers unique takes on traditional dishes and a few surprises. For example, local heirloom beans, squash and cactus can be found on the menu. The prickly pear margarita is quite nice. I am partial to the trio of tacos. The restaurant is a little expensive, but I think it's worth it.
This was our very first time here. I am so impressed! 49 Acres you can't beat it! Whoever is the buyer in the gift store does a tremendous job! From now on when we have out-of-town company wants to take back a souvenir of our beautiful city or state, this is the place to go! We had a little breakfast out on their patio overlooking the grounds. The staff was helpful in happy the food was good and it was not overpriced we will go back again and we will take friends next time! They also have some amazing artwork all through the grounds. Here's one by a famous local artist who used all scrap metal from the desert
First time here with family and friends and what an amazing, inviting place. The Day of the Dead displays were heartwarming and touching. The bistro delicious and the staff more than kind and friendly. Walked so many trails and will definitely be back to walk more. Thank you for a great family day!
Overall a nice scene and patio. Would be wonderful when the weather is not so extreme. Menu feels a bit lacking, no simple or straight forward breakfast options. Food is alright as well. Nothing fantastic and the ingredients don't seem that high end. Service was also lacking a little bit here and there. Server didn't really seem like he wanted to be there or had a great knowledge of the menu. Price is as expected, high because of the name/location. I'm not shocked but the cost doesn't reflect quality or menu diversity and especially not the service. Mostly just the fact that it's Tohono Chul.
This place was really cool, lots of plants and trees to see. It feels desert, but has areas that will make you feel less in thre desert like this area with a steam running through for example. There's a kid's play area with water feature. There's a museum and shop, also a little restaurant which smelled amazing (although I didn't get food there). Lots to see, many trails etc. Definitely worth the visit
