Hartwood, Tulum Reviews
This was the best restaurant we found in Tulum. It is a good idea to make a reservation, but if you show up early enough (they open at 5:30) then you'll likely get a table. The food was spectacular. The fish was perfect and my wife had an excellent piece of pork. Everything was seasoned brilliantly. They had such an excellent mix of spicy and sweet. I was baffled at how delicious and unique each dish was. The cocktails were delightful too. Everything is pricey, but it is all worth the price you pay. The service is fantastic and the staff was all courteous and helpful. I hope I can go back someday!
Honestly overrated. The food and service was good, above average... but the prices are high for the quality of the food you get. The pork ribs were really greasy. I wouldn’t call them “fall off the bone” tender, they were just oily. The grilled octopus was bland and rubbery, not tender. The lamb tacos were great, but it’s sad that the appetizer was the highlight of our meal. The drinks sound inventive, but they fell short of wowing us on flavor. We had a reservation so we arrived early and were seated 45 minutes late, no communication as to when we would actually get a seat. The server was nowhere to be found when the food came to our table. It was just disappointing. Our bill came out to about $300 CAD for 4 people.
I'd nearly go as close as to say "exceptional" food. We didn't have a reservation so showed up at 5 (opening time 5.30) and there was already a line, but all the covers at the start are for walk-ins so no problem getting a seat. The ceviche was different to the usual local style, but really good. The beetroot side was INCREDIBLE. I liked the cocktails too.
The food and service was unreal. My partner and I did not have a reservation and showed up very early and had no problem getting in. It didn't seem as though any one had problems getting a table. The service was incredible. Very fast and attentive. The cocktails were subpar but the food made up for it as it was definitely one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. Appetizers averaged around 250 pesos, mains were around 450 and cocktails 170 pesos. The food was worth the price.
Worth the hype. Best meal we had in Tulum. Check your bill closely, because there were a few things on it that we didn't order, but otherwise no complaints at all. A great experience.
