Whether it is Lake Pichola’s natural beauty that has inspired the splendidness of the palaces surroundings or if it is the palaces that enhance it is a question worth pondering about. Well, either way it doesn’t change the fact that this whole place is simply stunning. Created in 1362 AD, Lake Pichola is a fresh river water lake which was named after the nearby Picholi village. Pichola lake is infact one of the reasons why Udaipur is known as the city of lakes adorning India. Take a boat ride on it and you will actually traverse through the vignettes that dot the bewitching landscape of Udaipur. Pichola Lake’s stunning beauty infact tempted Rudyard Kipling to mention it in his Letters of Marque (1899), "If the Venetian owned the Pichola Lake, he might say with justice, "see it and die".

The lake is a real treat due to the amazing buildings that dot its bank. The four islands within the lake house heritage hotels and temples. The City Palace, the Jag Niwas (which has been turned into a Hotel) and the Gangaur Festival which is celebrated on its banks is just one of the many things that make tourists flock towards this serene spot.

Constructed and Used to aid irrigation for the surrounding areas, the lake had recently become dangerously polluted but great effort has been taken to restore it to its old self. A boat ride across the lake as you admire the many relics of an era gone by is sure to please any tourist.

  • Great place for enjoying natural Beauty in economical budget.. Must visit once. The lake view hotel has good hospitality, staff service is also good, very hygienic ambience. The night view of garden is amazing.. Swimming pool is very safe for kids too.. Delicious food is available here.. Loved to be here.

  • I am looking forward to stay here next time. But this hotel has a beautiful restaurant called Upre 1559 AD. Try and get the lake view table, get a reservation at least a day prior during weekends. The food is good, the drinks are good but the ambience makes you really happy.

  • Ausum place. You Must dine in Roof top restaurant once, Night view is marvelous from top with light live instrumental music . Rooms are cozy. Overall ambience is worth staying. Spa is on 2 nd floor and affordable.

  • The location is ideal.. the view of Gangaur ghat n city palace along with skyline of Udaipur is lovely. Great breakfast with rooms. Warm n curtious hospitality..

  • This is for the resteraunt on the third floor and not for the hotel itself. We had a reservation booked for tonight, I had rang the previous day to confirm everything and was told to come at 8pm and to relax and stay as long as you like. But tonight 1 hour before the booking, the lady called me and told us we must be there at 7pm instead (but we couldn't do that as we were busy until 8pm). Then she said if you come at 8pm you can only stay until 9pm and then must leave or I'll cancel it for you altogether... What a rude disgraceful lady, no people or communication skills at all, and after being spoken to like that. There is no chance at all I'll be spending any of my money there!! Please go else where, where people are actually nice to you especially when you are paying for massively overpriced food!
