This is a hidden gem of a restaurant in the backstreets of Udaipur(but well signposted) near Chandpol. Savage Garden serves a Tasty line in soups, chicken dishes and homemade pasta dishes along with assorted sauces. The portions are decent sized enough to serve one person. Middle eastern dishes like babaganoush, hummus and tabouli are a must try here. The setting and ambiance of the restaurant is unique, in a 250-year-old haveli with indigo walls and bowls of flowers, and tables in alcoves with a pleasant courtyard. A good place to have some unique and tasty food. Also a good place to spend a good evening with your friends.
It is a place which is not your usual restaurant and some may find the location of the place not so inviting. It is located in a small by lane Udaipur, little difficult to find. The entry is bad as the road outside needs repair but once you are inside the place is charming. They serve great Italian food. You will find mixed reviews on portals like TripAdvisor or lonelyplant. I would agree that the service is slow. Check for recommendations with the kitchen before ordering. That way you should get the best available dishes on that day.
It is located in the old city close to Bagore Ki Haveli (a popular tourist spot) and City Palace. Ask any rickshaw driver or local there, and you will be directed to the place.
- Entry is free.
- By hired taxi or tuktuk from the city.
