Sri Amruteshwari Temple of Udupi is no less than a miracle. A result of penance by a devotee of Goddess Parvati, this temple symbolizes a miracle. Goddess Parvati, pleased with the devotion, granted her wishes. The devotee asked to be young forever, and bear children like Lord Shiva himself. The boon given to the devotee resulted in the Goddess incorporating her within herself. Thus, two forms of the Goddess are worshipped in the temple. The miraculous part is that a number of “Linga” have erupted from the ground all over the temple. Every “Linga” represents a child like the Lord himself. This phenomenon can be seen only here and nowhere else. Visit this temple to explore this fascinating history and be humbled by its power.
