This 16th century attraction was once the administrative center of the Uppsala. The great monarch Gustav Vasa started the construction. Later, the subsequent rulers made many renovations to the castle. This was the site of some important events such as the Sture Murders, declaration of state’s participation in the 30 years’ war, abdication of Queen Kristina, etc. This castle was later completely damaged and was rebuilt, after which it became a symbol of the renaissance. After many years, the castle was completely burnt down and what we see now is the result of more renovations and rebuilding. It is of course a very important part of Uppsala and the place will not disappoint you for sure.
