About Peoples Park, Urumqi
Situated on the west bank of Urumqi, People’s Park is said to be the biggest park in the urban city. There is a saying among the people, that this park is often considered as ‘the park for sharing happiness’. Established in 1755, the location where the park is now located was once a marsh land and lakes surrounded with old trees. Now, the entire land has been turned into a beautiful garden surrounded with trees forming canopies, lanes around the lake to walk along the lake and rowboats on hire to cross the lake.
In summer, the park remains busy with various kinds of exhibitions like flowers, bonsai, arts and paintings. While in winter, events like ice sculpture festival and many winter sports activities are held in this park.
If you are looking for a place to spend some ‘peace time’ just with yourself, just walk into this park. Come early morning when the park opens for public visit. The serene ambience is definitely going to make you fall in love with it.
