Considered as one of the oldest mosque of Urumqi, the mosque was built in 19th century with the funds raised by the local Tartar diaspora. By the early 20the century, the mosque was expanded and it covered an area of 3000 square meter. Today, the mosque can accommodate thousands of worshipers together in their prayer hall. The interesting part of this mosque is its classy look which will grab your attention for a while. However, a close look to the architectural design on the walls, doors and windows will show traditional carvings in form of geometrical and plants shape.
The best part of this mosque is tourists and female worshippers are allowed to enter. However, prior confirmation is recommended.
