We had a really fun morning in this museum. The model ships and associated stories we're fascinating as were the prison exhibits. We spent a couple of hours walking around reading everything and it held our interest well. The Antarctic and prisons of the world sections were pretty poorly organized, though, and some of the translations on the plaques was not great. Definitely recommend the museum to get a taste of the area's history.
This museum covers a variety of different topics. There is a lot of history about prisons. I was hoping to see more natural history of Argentina, but there is like of that.
A must seen to understand the history of the area. There is an option for 400 pesos of seeing all the museum's (there are together there). Once that you are there, it feels that you've travelled back in time 100 years (that was my feeling anyway). There is WiFi available (not too good but nice to have it) and also an overpriced gift shop inside. Nice staff and a free guide tour at 11 am and some other time I've forgotten. I recommend it.
This large museum covers a jumble of subjects: Antarctica, life in the prison, the history of Ushuaia, the Falklands War and much more. I would highly recommend spending some time here if you are in Ushuaia.
Great museum in an old prison to kill 2 or 3 hours in Ushuaia. History of region and Antarctic, the prison and local art.
