This eleventh century cathedral is essentially Gothic, but melds multiple influences into its structure, a result of a long period of construction and expansion. It’s quite important to Christianity in general, seeing how it houses what is purportedly the chalice from the Last Supper (the true Holy Grail).

It was the official chalice for many popes. Make sure to at least climb the bell tower for wonderful views of the city. The painting and sculptures scattered around are wonderful and are in and of themselves worth the trip.
