About Lower Barrakka Gardens, Valletta

While the Upper Barrakka Gardens are a definite must visit, the Lower Barrakka Gardens too are a wonderful sight to see if you are not hard pressed for time. They provide a different and very lovely perspective to the Malta harbor and are a lovely place to hang out after a day of sight-seeing.

The soothing sounds of the sea in the distance, the salty sea-breeze and the unique vantage point that they provide make a truly heady mixture for the lover of some peace and quiet. They are never as crowded as their twin Upper gardens and have beautiful flowers and green trees that make a visit quite refreshing. A nice stroll around the gardens is a must do while in Valletta for a meditative mind.

Lower Barrakka Gardens, Valletta Reviews

  • A garden that is less crowded but just as beautiful as the upper gardens. It’s a bit smaller in space and there is can what be considered to some, a bit f a steep walk back from the lower gardens. There are some scenic views of the port though, and just across is the memorial bell.

  • The views of the Three Cities are stunning. Watch the cruise liners come and go from this vantage point. Great photo shooting location and the kiosk close by makes one of Malta's best home made burgers.

  • Place (at least at time of visit) was less crowded than Upper Barrakka Gardens - thanks to that it was a good spot to sit down for couple of minutes before moving on with further exploration of town. From here you have z nice view on Memorial and on open sea right behind it.

  • I enjoyed the Lower Barrakka Gardens much more than the upper ones. There’s plenty of shade, fountains, and temple. It’s a Beautiful place to rest in the shade and listen to the soothing sound of water. One of my favorite spots in Valletta.

  • Nice Gardens with great views, unfortunately not very exiting in February. The Public Toilets are still open which is always handy.
