While the Upper Barrakka Gardens are a definite must visit, the Lower Barrakka Gardens too are a wonderful sight to see if you are not hard pressed for time. They provide a different and very lovely perspective to the Malta harbor and are a lovely place to hang out after a day of sight-seeing.

The soothing sounds of the sea in the distance, the salty sea-breeze and the unique vantage point that they provide make a truly heady mixture for the lover of some peace and quiet. They are never as crowded as their twin Upper gardens and have beautiful flowers and green trees that make a visit quite refreshing. A nice stroll around the gardens is a must do while in Valletta for a meditative mind.

  • The gardens is a nice quiet patch of green space where locals and tourists can enjoy a break from touring around Valletta. If you have dried fruit you can feed the numerous little lizards that dart in and out of the bushes. Another plus is that there are public washrooms but unfortunately they sometimes don't have any toilet paper.

  • It's just a small garden but with some beautiful architecture. Lots of places to sit and fantastic views over the 3 cities and the grand harbour. Not so nice in the pouring rain unfortunately, speaking from experience :(

  • Beautiful oasis in hot bustling Valetta. Infinitely preferable to the busy tourist trap of the Upper gardens. Built for the Knights to get some recreation time, it's quiet corners, plentiful benches and well provisioned kiosk come as a welcome rest in the hot streets.

  • Relaxing hot spot on the wall of Valletta overlooking the beautiful three cities... A lot of benches where have a rest while admiring the beautiful landscape and panorama. I definitely prefer the lower to the upper gardens.

  • Good point of view on the 3 cities and on the siege bell war memorial. Each window is a unique spot to take pictures. The garden is not very big but trees are varied. The are benches to sit. Trees provide shadow when the sun is burning
