Lower Barrakka Gardens - Review

While the Upper Barrakka Gardens are a definite must visit, the Lower Barrakka Gardens too are a wonderful sight to see if you are not hard pressed for time. They provide a different and very lovely perspective to the Malta harbor and are a lovely place to hang out after a day of sight-seeing.

The soothing sounds of the sea in the distance, the salty sea-breeze and the unique vantage point that they provide make a truly heady mixture for the lover of some peace and quiet. They are never as crowded as their twin Upper gardens and have beautiful flowers and green trees that make a visit quite refreshing. A nice stroll around the gardens is a must do while in Valletta for a meditative mind.

  • Beautiful garden with beautiful flowers when in bloom. Nice place to take a stroll or find a spot in the shade to relax. There is a place to buy refreshments nearby. Not a large garden so you don't need to spend a lot of time here if you don't want to.

  • Both lower and upper gardens are great to visit for some spectacular views and a little bit of shade on a hot sunny day. Not too many flowers in summer as it is simply to hot but some nice footpaths and sculptures around. The gardens are not too big so it is really a quick stroll to see all.

  • Relaxing hot spot on the wall of Valletta overlooking the beautiful three cities... A lot of benches where have a rest while admiring the beautiful landscape and panorama. I definitely prefer the lower to the upper gardens.

  • Such a beautiful peaceful garden. A lovely place to relax in the shade of the olive trees. Lots of seating to just relax and watch the world go by. A plus is the view at the rear of the garden of the bell tower and a memorial to the war dead.

  • The lower gardens are worth your visit. It's free to go in and because the upper gardens get all the fame, the lower gardens are not as crowded. And in my opinion the lower gardens are more beautiful with a similar view
