Barclay Hotel, Vancouver Reviews
Unexpectedly good boutique hotel. The location is great. The room was very clean, dark and quiet (which we love). We didn't stay during the weekend though and don't know if it would have been as quiet as the walls are quite thin. Very good value for money nonetheless.
Fantastic location and friendly staff at this basic hotel with small rooms and no elevators. If you stay in summertime, also note that, the way the windows are configured, if you have the curtains closed, you will block the cool air coming from the air conditioner. On the plus side, there tons of restaurants and interesting shops just outside the door, and you can easily walk to the waterfront and other attractions.
Okay so this isn't a brand new high-rise hotel in downtown Vancouver. Okay it is in downtown Vancouver making Uber and Lyft fairly easy. Front desk was very accommodating and the rooms were fittingly small for a Downtown hotel but they were clean. For some reason I didn't think about it but if you're coming from America don't forget this is Canada and you have to have international roaming. Not their fault just something I thought I'd mention. I'd stay there again.
Good, clean budget hotel, in a very convenient part of Vancouver. All the main shopping areas and tourist attractions are within walking distance. No food on site but there are oodles of cafes and bars around that this is not a problem.
Overall this was a good stay. The staff was incredibly kind and all of the cleaning staff always greeted me and wished me a good day which was really pleasant. Check-in was a breeze and we got to check-in early which was really awesome. We usually stay on Granville street so it was a nice change of scenery. The hotel is over a cool little arcade bar and right beside a Coras restaurant, but there are many better places to eat in Vancouver. Anyone who has trouble with stairs... DON'T STAY HERE. There is absolutely no wheelchair access or ramp. The first thing that greets you is the steps which is slightly awkward with a large suitcase. It didn't look like there was an elevator, but luckily our room was on the main floor. As a person with a crappy back I found the bed was low quality. Bathroom was small, but includes a bathtub. They started cleaning the rooms too early in the morning and woke us up several times. Some might find the arcade bar noisy.
