Great location, fascinating building close to historic downtown! Pit stop for a lot of travellers as well as hang out spot for some locals. No fancy cocktails or beverages in here. The price are a little high but considering the touristy location, it is not so bad. Fun place to end up the night.
A fun free venue, but the male gaze is strong. Also the Friday night DJ plays a terrible combination of top 40 hits from six+ years ago. He plays full songs, no edits or transitions. His technique turns Hey Ya! into what feels like seven endless minutes. We found a Craigslist posting for the Friday night DJ, and honestly it shows! Gave it four stars because I go back anyway.
Went again recently after not having been for four years. It's lost the unique beer hall/hostel pub vibe it had going and has now just turned into a crappy sub-par club playing terrible top 40's and mumble rap. As such, it's attracted the crowd that flocks to that too. Bring back the fun days in which everyone would sing Bohemian Rhapsody standing on the tables at 2am! Clubs are found a dime a dozen up on the Granville Strip. Vancouver really lost something unique when management changed here.
Have been here numerous times over they years when I was in Vancouver visiting. Used to go there when they had their burger brew sit out on the patio with a pitcher in the summer time. Was never a fan of the indoor seating arrangement. Essentially picnic tables. Good if you have a group big enough to fill up the table not so good when you don't. Since there is nothing worse than being seated by some young punks who are sipping on their first beer. The men's washroom is disgusting. In a border line sketchy part of town. If you are young and going in a group not bad. If you are not and going by yourself. ahhh not so much To leave on a positive note the building itself is interesting. Over 100 years old.
Best DJ ever on Fridays. I think his name is Luc. Amazing. Wow. Such great.
