Library Square, Vancouver Reviews

  • Stopped in for a quick bite to eat with two other people before a show at the Queen Elizabeth Theater. Can't say we were overly impressed. Maybe my expectations were too high but the atmosphere was a little soulless and very spartan. As more people arrived, it became quite loud and was a little difficult to talk. The staff was friendly but we had to ask for the "Dine Out" menu as it wasn't even offered. That may have been an oversight of our particular server. We ordered one Blue Cheese Burger with a salad and two Blackened Chicken Sandwiches with fries as well as four beers. On the up side, the burger and sandwiches were all absolutely fantastic, perfectly cooked and very tasty. The honestly couldn't have been any better. The salad was nothing to write home about but perfectly fine, however the two orders of fries that came with the burgers were almost cold and two of the four beers that were ordered came warm. We were a little constrained for time before the show or we would have sent it all back. Hopefully this experience was just an anomaly but I probably wouldn't rush back although I could be convinced to give the sandwich another go.

  • Part of the Donnelly Group of restaurants, this has a similar experience to the Bimini or Cinema. On weekend evenings, a dance floor is cleared and it becomes a bar, in an intimate space. They have coat check which is nice. Also some arcade games at the back near the washrooms. Not as many as the Bimini but it's fun to have.

  • went for dine out. menu selections were good and food was tasty. we were pleasantly surprised. bar selection not bad either.

  • The guy who was manning the door from the inside was extremely rude. We had been there since 5 and when we stepped outside, the bouncer mentioned we needed stamps to get back in. We went inside to get our stamps and they asked for IDs and said they needed to take our picture. I simply asked why they needed to take our picture and door man stormed over and barked at us... Saying it's government policy. So we took the picture. Then he stormed outside and proceeded to mock us to the bouncer. What he didn't realize was that we were in earshot of his unintelligible rant. I went over and mentioned we can hear him and he scurried off. Truly disappointing experience.

  • Nice place to get some beers. A lot of foreign students. Good to meet new people. Only bad thing was we had to stand in line for more than an hour.
