I've been twice and returning here soon. I think the best way to experience the food here is ordering the chef's menu when you have a party of three or more. Some folks have written about poor service and overly salty food. None of my friends who have eaten here have thought that. Wonderful variety of delicious food - one of my favourite restaurants in the lower mainland. Cheers!
0 stars! Don't understand why this place is getting good reviews. The food is overly sweetened with too much syrup like sauce and the portions are SO tiny. Way too expensive for such bad food and service. Plus there was flies buzzing around the whole time. Not to mention the smell, smells so gross. We tried so hard to make this a good night. We got drinks, appetizers, and main courses. We pretty much ordered everything off the SMALL menu and we didn't like a single thing. They don't even have hot sauce. After eating what we could force down here, we ended up eating somewhere else. Won't be coming back here again.
Worst "Thai" food I've ever eaten. The food here is heavily sweetened to fit to western taste and it's nothing like authentic Thai food. The Pad Thai was worse than the ones sold at food courts and everything we tried was horrible. The menu is also very limited and the atmosphere inside the restaurant is awful. I was there for dinner and the noise was unbearable! It was so loud inside the small cramped restaurant that I couldn't even hear my friend who was right in front of me. It got to the point where we decided it wasn't worth staying there any longer and we left a few minutes after our disappointing dishes came out. Never coming back to Maenam again and I definitely recommend people to stay away.
Service was okay at best. Food was average, presentation lovely. Come here if you like VERY flavourful, salty Thai food. If you can't handle a heavy, salty meal then stay away.
Good food, good service. Papaya salad was a little too spicy. On previous occasions not so spicy and more tangy which I loved. Loved the curry lamb although a bit on sweet side for my companion. Green eggplant stir fry was pretty good.
