Orpheum Theatre - Review
The Orpheum Theatre is a wonderful attraction in Vancouver. The social center of the theatre scene, it is a place worth visiting in the city. The best way to view the theatre is to go for a show or a spectacle and with it being a lively performance venue it wouldn’t be too difficult to find one that suits you.
The rustic, historic theatre has been the pride of Vancouver since 1927 and the brief closure in the interim never harmed its popularity. While the exterior is impressive the interior is simply spectacular and gives off a very old timey vibe even today.
Do not miss a chance to see a concert here as the acoustics are said to be really good. Even if you don’t intend to do all that it makes sense to see this Natural Historic Site from the outside at least.

Orpheum Theatre, Vancouver Reviews
The Orpheum is a beautiful old theatre in the heart of the liveliest area of downtown Vancouver. It is well maintained, the seats are very comfortable and the sound quality is always excellent. PARKING: There is reasonably priced parking in the VSO underground lot. There are other places nearby that offer outdoor and underground parking. RESTAURANTS: There are several places to eat in the area and I honestly can't recommend any of these unless you just want to eat bar food and drink (which is a lot of fun too).
I mean, it's the Orpheum, a historical landmark in Vancouver that's extremely well maintained, and one of the few historical venues here. Outside, it's quite unassuming, but inside, it's gorgeous, particularly the theatre. We like to watch shows from the dress circle, though most places provide a good view. To note, it's not a very large stage, but the ambiance offsets the size. The sound quality and clarity are very good, and it's unlikely there will be issues, the staff is professional and will direct and guide on an, as needed basis. Of note, there are a lot of stairs in the Orpheum, and sometimes you just don't want to deal with it, haha. The washrooms are very large, and getting in and out of the theatre is easy, and convenient, the only unfortunate bit is having to deal with the Granville strip after an evening show. Also, parking can be difficult at times.
This is a gorgeous theatre. Naturally the place cannot compare to the Paris Opera house but this place is a real jewel for Vancouver. When I was a child, I used to go see movies for a quarter. One of the scariest movies I ever saw (as a kid) was the "House on Haunted Hill." Over the past 30 years, I have enjoyed around 200 Vancouver Symphony Orchestra concerts - some outstanding concerts and some pretty forgettable concerts. To the group of citizens who helped to save this theatre - thank you.
This was my first time at The Orpheum and the venue itself is remarkable. I wish we arrived early because the venue is so gorgeous, it would have been nice to walk around and get a good feel for the place. If you can get there at least 30mins early, that will give you enough time to find your seats and allow you time to walk around and just take in the environment, grab a drink, and just look. The venue is one of the most beautiful venues in Vancouver. I can't wait to come back here. We sat in the lower balcony and got great views. They serve drinks and snacks at reasonable prices. This is a great venue.
When looking at the building from the outside you done expect much. The entrance was underwhelming, and then you take five more steps, and you're standing in an historic building, red carpets and surrounded by what feels like thousand year old finishings. That feeling still won't prepare you for your first steps into the main performance area. Comfortable seating, lots of seating! I would highly recommend watching an orchestra in this space.
