About Orpheum Theatre, Vancouver

The Orpheum Theatre is a wonderful attraction in Vancouver. The social center of the theatre scene, it is a place worth visiting in the city. The best way to view the theatre is to go for a show or a spectacle and with it being a lively performance venue it wouldn’t be too difficult to find one that suits you.

The rustic, historic theatre has been the pride of Vancouver since 1927 and the brief closure in the interim never harmed its popularity. While the exterior is impressive the interior is simply spectacular and gives off a very old timey vibe even today.

Do not miss a chance to see a concert here as the acoustics are said to be really good. Even if you don’t intend to do all that it makes sense to see this Natural Historic Site from the outside at least.

  • This is one of the last remaining great movie theatres in North America. It has been transformed into the home of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. In addition to being a stunning space, it has warm, excellent acoustics. One cannot help but marvel at the beautiful detail around the stage and ceiling and at the magnificent chandeliers throughout the hall and lobby areas. There are photographs of great actors, musicians and artists in the British Columbia Hall of Fame. And a old movie projector is preserved in one part of the theater. It is very much worth attending a concert or performance at the Orpheum. You will enjoy the music and will be transported magically to a time over 50 years ago when the big screen was the dominant feature in society.

  • The Orpheum is a beautiful theatre. I've been here to attend all types of concerts and shows and always enjoy the venue. The staff are friendly and helpful. The venue itself is gorgeous, classy and well-maintained. Lots of street parking (when permitted) and there are a lot of paid lots close by.

  • The history of this place is at the heart of Vancouver when it grew from a settlers out post to a modest city. Its architecture celebrates the British Empire colonial era. In such a young city it is a landmark. As a venue its acoustic is good and it has plenty of space to linger and socialize after a concert. A must see in Vancouver.

  • Amazing venue, beautiful sound and the VSO is always great to experience. This particular event had a few of the composers present and they provided insight into their works we heard that evening. Went with my boys and they had a great time as well.

  • I went to Adam Sandler here and it was amazing. Gorgeous venue. The architecture is beautiful with red carpet and oh so many details everywhere! It's clean and I've always found the staff to be really friendly.
