  • I'm been coming to the Y here for years. I used to work right across the street but even after my office moved I kept coming back. Great facility with even better staff.

  • I joined different gyms, by far I found YMCA the best, when it comes to wanting to cancel my membership. The broken machines were repaired in a timely manner. NO extra hidden fee like other gyms. Free guest pass. They offer different programs.

  • Short version, freeloaders were spotted handing gym membership passes to their peers (non-members; these guys, the ones I've seen are of East-Indian/Pakistani descent; age: 19-25) - throughout the day. They've found a loop hole in the system and are abusing it! I'm outraged by how this is still going on as we approach 2019! How is your system not able to detect the number of times a single membership is being scanned and then why not disable multiple scan-ins per day? Can you not see the times they were scanned in? can't you profile them??? they're easily identifiable. I've seen them playing Squash, and some of them don't. The one I've always see, is usually at the top floor near pulley machine - creepy/sketchy deceiving fellow. The Fix: Create a wall of shame board! - where Staff posts picture of these con-artists! Get a picture of them first before they run off. So other staff members know who these guys are and I strongly believe the members/public/community has the right to know who these guys are as well! Why? if people who can't afford it have to get their membership subsidized, and these con-artists are getting in for free, do you think this is right? Con-artists’ pictures should include – both the member who owns that pass and the non-member who uses it. YMCA Victoria, CREATE Awareness!!! On the island, as a community, we all (STAFF, MEMBERS & COMMUNITY) need to know who these people are. If these guys are doing this, chances are, they are most likely doing something else illegal outside of this system! This is organized crime and can manifest itself it left untreated! Protect our community! Details: 1) 2+ membership pass(es) gets passed around among non-members (these guys, the ones I've seen are of East-Indian/Pakistani decent) I have reported this to a staff. The staff told me they confronted this individual and confirmed he was using his friend's membership (" ...oh you know, I must have picked up my friend’s membership..."). The culprit didn't have a membership in the system at the time of being confronted either. The staff member also told me this culprit was once caught scanning in his 5+ friends with a single membership. Culprit used the same membership to scan in his friends while the Staff was in a room. I've seen the culprit and his friends handing off membership throughout the day (Parking lot, entrance, in the gym). You can be sure to catch them in the evening when there’s fewer staff or when there’s a lot of people so they go unnoticed. They text each other so they don't get caught - e.g. A member gets to front desk, notices staff is not at front desk or staff is busy, and this culprit lets the other non-members in using the same membership pass or Two or Three NON-MEMBERs scan in using valid membership pass(es). When caught, in the past it looks like they get a slap on the wrist, and somehow found a loop hole. They usually come in pairs, in 3's you'll easily be able to identify them. Some of them are students, others - who knows... How on earth is this still happening as we approach 2019? this is no different than organized crime! FYI: Some of them have grown beards so they all look alike as the photo (easy to pose as the picture on the membership). THE LOOP HOLE: When caught, the culprit then comes during the time when the staff who caught him isn't there at front desk, so he can sign up for a membership. Now this this culprit has a membership, and can have his friend cancel the other membership (the one he was caught with or one of the other floating membership) and they both will continue using the service . So the membership pass keeps floating among their friends. Brutal! I can't recommend this place while it has this underlaying problem. While I've only encountered this group, I'm sure it's a reoccurring problem with others.

  • While the facility, especially the change rooms, could use an upgrade, staff our great and they have made the most of the space that's there. Great variety of equipment and even squash courts. My only suggestion is they need to crack down on the old guys who walk around shaving everywhere in the change room,

  • The YMCA is great! The staff are friendly and helpful, the gym is well equipped, the atmosphere is respectful and there's great drop in sports options.
