Standing on the banks of the Oust River is this medieval castle that has been standing there for almost a millennium now. The renaissance era and the feudal architecture of the old times both seem to have made an impact on the building of the castle. The facade is gothic, the dining room, inspired by the middle ages and the interiors, just magnificent in their entirety. The castle is still owned by the Rohan family, its original founders. Highlights include:
- The three towers that overlook the Oust River
- Family portraits on the walls of the castle
- A monumental fireplace in the flamboyant sitting room
- Park for kids
- Tree-lined grounds
- An English Style Rose Garden
- Dolls Museum
- Guided Tour

Chateau De Josselin, Vannes Reviews - Write a Review
Had to stand in the rain to wait for our tour then when it started there was a lot of standing around taking about it before we were allowed in. As it was all in French with nothing visual and with it not being very pram friendly we, along with a number of others on the tour cut our losses. From what we heard of the tour afterwards we are glad we did as it consisted of being locked into one room and then the next while they talk about it all which isn't great with kids.
Such a beautiful place, the english tour is brilliant. Two steps to get in and out but able to do them in a wheelchair. Everything is so well looked after.
The grounds were beautiful and the tour was very interesting and in depth. Quinten was our English your guide who described everything very well and made the tour entertaining. Many times our group were in laughter. Would definitely recommend!
At Nine euros to view five semi furnished rooms with nothing really special in any of them. The tour of the house lasting45 minutes.I think it was way overpriced and boring and i would not recommend it.My visit did not include the visit to the puppet museum which cost 5 euros extra.
Magnificent castle located overlooking river. The town has some interesting buildings too. Worth a visit.
