Ponnumthuruthu Island, Varkala Reviews
Private property or island that has a temple inside and a children park although small but the adults can enjoy swing chair hanging from tree..we were four persons three adults and a kid and were charged rupees 1200. Nice place and a trip around the island on boat is enjoyable
Nothing here actually. Picnic spot. You need to go via boat and the view on the backwaters is breathtaking. A small island with small temple. Do go once you visit varkala.
Ponnum thuruth is an island..easy to travel to it using boat...there is a historical Shiva temple..
The boatmen try to fleece you here. Though the island is calm and serene there is not much to see. Initially when we asked the man who arranges for the boat, he said that it was a nice place and we were charged 1200 for 4 people. And when we mentioned to the boatman that there was nothing on the island, he quipped "I never said there was anything there". There are better places to see in varkala and this sure is not one of them.
It as beautyfull place, not overcommercialized. Recommend it!
