The University Botanical Garden is the first in Bulgaria to combine both, natural and artificial ecological systems. The aim is to protect various species of plants that are outside their natural environments. The park also aims to preserve the endangering species of Bulgarian flora. The park covers a huge area of 108 acres. There are 300 species of exotic bushes and trees and more than 100 species of herbaceous plants. The arrangement of these is very meticulously designed and maintained. This place is both beautiful and educational. Highlights include:

• The Rose Garden- More than 70 varieties of roses.
• The Day-Lily Garden
• The Water areas- Aquatic and hydrophilic plants.
• Barbeque and Picnic Spots
• The Academic Jockey Club- Horse riding lessons.

• Wheelchairs are available, but they have limited access.
• Carry your water bottles. The walk can be long and tiring.
