So a name like that has GOT to have a story behind it, right? It does. The view convicts had through the stone bars of this covered limestone bridge was the very last they’d have before their imprisonment. Lord Byron had the honor of giving the bridge its name. The legend goes that if a couple kisses under the bridge at sunset, they’re blessed with eternal love. A number of other bridges, even natural ones, have since been given the same name.

Bridge Of Sighs Reviews & Ratings

  • After hearing the history and stories regarding the Bridge of Sighs, it's a definite must-see and great photo spot. It can often be crowded so just wait patiently as the other tourists huddle round for a picture-great if you can go under it during your gondola ride!

  • It looks very nice (preferably from outside), it is surely one of the symbols of Venice, present on dozens of postcards, photos and calendars. Slightly hidden behind the building, it can be visited during sightseeing of the Doge's Palace, and can be viewed - the best way - from the marina. Lots of tourists try to capture him (and of course himself) in the pictures taken from the side of lagoon.

  • This must be one of the most visited places in Venice. This may be viewed after crossing St Mark square and up on the first bridge on the seaward side. A good idea is to actually cross the Bridge of Sighs after viewing the Doge's palace. Here one may also see the dungeons where the prisoners were kept.

  • Don’t get me wrong it interesting... but not to the extent made out in the rating. Definitely worth a look, but there are many many more incredible sites to see in Rome...

  • Beautiful but obviously very busy with selfie seekers in the daytime. Quieter in the evening. Visit the Doges Palace to cross inside the bridge.
