Another Venetian lagoon island, one that’s unfortunately overshadowed by its larger neighbour – the Burano. The island’s tourist potential lies almost exactly in how non-touristy it is. Life here is so laid back it’s almost frozen in time, a very rural scene that somehow gives the feeling of having much busier in the past. There is an attraction on the island, of course – the Chesa di Santa Catarina, built in the 8th century and then turned into a Benedictine convent. There’s a charm in its old and worn stones, and it’s Romanesque and Gothic influences. A bridge from the island leads straight to the Burano, so you might as well combine the trip.
Also, visit nearby attractions which are covered in Venice itinerary 1 day.
