See all those railing on the bridges of Venice? They’re new. Originally, Venice’s bridges had no kind of side safety/support whatsoever. It’s something they put in to appease nervous tourists. Now, there are only two un-railed bridges in the city. This one likely did not get a railing because it doesn’t actually lead anywhere. That said, it’s charming little bridge (if a little frail looking) and if you feel like a quick thrill of insecurity, then you ought to take a slight detour, and check it out.
