  • Great connection to venice and the rest of the country. Buy your tickets from the ticket machines. Or ticket office is goin to charge you 1 euro for every single ticket.

  • The train station is closed between 1 - 4:30am. If you have a morning train/bus, especially in the winter or cold season, I'd recommend you to change the timing. There is no waiting room, no cafes, no fast food places working at that time nearby. You will have to wait outside, even the hotel lobbies aren't open because of the security concers here.

  • As much as I love the train service in Italy, how Trenitalia manages their train stations is terrible and Mestre is one of the worst. They have done some extensive renovations. Does that mean the station is open during the night, so travelers have a waiting area for early morning trains inside? No. They finally put in elevators to reach the platforms, so do you no longer have to carry your luggage down and up the stairs? No, the elevators are generally out of service. They removed the old benches on the platforms, so did they put new ones there? No, they just removed them, now there is nothing to sit down on. Also, if you are not used to traveling by train in Italy, be advised that Mestre is one of those stations where trains almost never arrive on the platform they are supposed to. For whatever reason (or no reason at all) there will most likely be an announcement a few minutes before the train comes through, informing you that the train will arrive at another platform. Listen to the announcements and try to make out the origin/destination of your train during the Italian announcement, even if you don't speak Italian. In the English version the computer voice misspronounces some Italian place names in such a way that it's hard to make out what it is saying. If you feel lost or in need of assistance, tell someone (Trenitalia staff or fellow travelers), they'll surely help you out, if they can.

  • We were a bit confused when we first entered but we found the ticket machines very easy to navigate. After a quick chat with the staff at the info stand we found out which platforms and what times departured for Venice. It was so straight forward and the trains were so efficient also. Would easily ferl comfortable navigating about it again by myself.

  • Trains on time, a bit crowded though, There are just a few things to do while waiting, but it is still a small station, so it seems fair.
