Whenever one thinks of Cinque Terra, the very first image that comes to mind is of a castle perched on a hill that overlooks gorgeous sea. This experience can come true if you visit Castello Doria, a castle located high on the southern end of the harbour. This is the oldest (atleast 1000 years old) surviving fort that still graces the landscape of Cinque Terra. Although in ruins today, this castle offers you a glimpse into the royal past of the influential Doria family of Genoa who constructed this castle to protect the village from pirates. From here, you can enjoy some magnificent views of the galloping waves of sea.

Castello Doria, Vernazza Reviews - Write a Review
Good 360 degree views of Vernazza, for only 1.5 euros. Some might find the short but tight and steep-ish stairs challenging.
There's a winding, tight climb up stairs to get up to the castle, then even tighter stairs up to the tower. But it's definitely worth it to get great views of the town.
1,50€ per person to go up and get a panoramic view of Vernazza. Not a bad deal.
I used to refuse to pay extra €€ for those that turns out nothing much in the end. This was €1.50 cash only(would be better if they CEARLY show that we have to prepare cash) and I was like... well give it a try! And it was spectacular! I've seem many great views in Cinque Terre and this was one of the bests! A bit of walking up and the price is not included in Cinque Terre Pass, but truly worth it. Must try!
If offfers a stunning view of the whole village. Best time to go is afternoon.
