There would be very few lovers of music who would not know Beethoven! Vienna pays homage to this legendary artist through his statue which is erected at Beethovenplatz, near the Konzerthaus. Set up by the “friends of music” after the centenary of Beethoven, this statue was unveiled on May 1st 1880 and has ever since then adorned the city. Cast out of Bronze, this sculptor was created by sculptor Caspar Clemens von Zumbush. What makes this statue an interesting one to gaze is that it is conscientiously designed like the statue of Moses by Michelangelo in the San Pietro in Vincoli church in Rome. Do have a look at it while you are strolling around the city of Vienna.
