Public squares are where you can see the best of Viennese culture. Heldenplatz is one of the main squares of Vienna which is located right in front of Hofburg palace. Also called as the Heroes’ square, it is named after two Austrian war heroes: Prince Eugene of Savoy, the victor over the Turks in the seventeenth century, and Archduke Charles, Duke of Teschen, who defeated Napoleon in 1809 in Aspern, near Vienna. This is also the site where Hitler had announced the Anschluss - the annexation of Austria by the German Third Reich - from the Neue Burg. So while you are in the city of Vienna, do spend some leisure time in this square to come to terms with history and architecture.

Heldenplatz, Vienna Reviews - Write a Review
A beautiful square with lots of interesting and historically important buildings and monuments. Definitely a must-see
Huge open space with direct view of the surrounding historic buildings. Frequently used as for events like Vienna City Marathon, Vienna Night Run and festival of sports. Very crowded during events. Good to reach with public transport.
One more museum is coming available in Vienna, Heldenplatz, das Weltmuseum, or world museum. This is the revamped version of the old Voelkerkunde museum or museum of Anthropology. Make sure to pay a visit since it is really cutting-edge between science and art at a high standard!
Breath taking statues and palaces.. Nearby rose garden. Amazing place. A must go.
it's in front of library and Rathaus and near Parliament, nice place to see
