Highly recommend for anyone who appreciates fine service and accommodations. We loved the high end breakfast, knowledgeable staff, and excellent room. Honesty Bar open for guests until midnight.
We are staying at Altstadt from Sept 14-21. The location is walking distance to the museum quarter. Our room is clean and bright (and we were told newly renovated) but the highlight of our stay is the delicious and varied breakfast offered. Honestly, it is worth it just for this. The servers are attentive and cheery. A hot breakfast main is offered (savory and sweet) daily and the fresh baked breads are to die for. There is also afternoon cake with a smorgasbord of candies served from 4pm-6pm if you need a small break from a day of sightseeing/museums. If you're coming to Vienna, do yourself a favour and stay here.
Amazing hotel and amazing staff. Personal and unique. Highly recommend
Best hotel I’ve ever stayed in! Amazing rooms, phenomenal staff, gorgeous tea service. An unforgettable experience – the whole design of the hotel is unlike anything I’ve ever stayed in. Absolutely wonderful.
My husband and I stayed in this hotel from December 23-27 and we were unsatisfied with our stay. I don’t think this hotel gave us the best value for our money. And we could not understand how this hotel is part of SLH. When we arrived Sunday night it was extremely confusing to find the reception. The hotels building is not completely owned by them, it’s shared with apartments and offices, so when you arrive you have to find your way to the elevator and take the elevator to the main lobby. When we finally found ourselves at the lobby, we asked if there were any restaurants open for us to eat and the lady responded by telling us yes but they are all booked and was unwilling to really help us find any restaurant. When they brought us to our room there were several things broken such as the controls for the heater, hooks for the coats, and our closet smelled like wet shoes. We had requested for a “reloaded”room on a high floor, we got the complete opposite and the request was never acknowledged or addressed. The room we received was not pictured on their website and just plain ugly. Like another reviewed mentioned the room was not cleaned properly. I included pictures of some of the dust founded on the walls and the dead bugs we saw on the Celling light, as well as a messed up lamp. On the other hand the servers were really nice and attentive at breakfast and at their honesty bar. They were extremely friendly and were working hard. The location is also good very close to main attractions. However my husband and I did go and look at cheaper hotels that were same quality or better and in a better location. My recommendation is for the price of this hotel you can find something cheaper of equal or better quality. Don’t be fooled by the SLH brand they are using for their marketing. The hotel doesn’t meet expectations.
