Went to try the famous torte, while in Vienna. My cake was dry in the middle. I didn't expect that... Very unpleasant. Unfortunately, that wasn't the most disappointing thing- the member of staff who was supposed to be serving me was quite rude and incredibly slow. I couldn't get her attention. This spoiled the experience for me. You pay a very premium price to visit and it was a let down on many counts. Just pop in, take a picture and leave. You'll save yourself a LOT of money and disappointment!
Instead of waiting in a long line for the Hotel Sacher Cafe, we ducked into the Sacher Salon and were seated immediately. You can get the famous Original Sacher Torte here just the same. The interior isn't as large or elaborate, but it's still a great venue with great service and not overcrowded. The Sacher Torte is the best piece of cake I've ever had, well worth the hype.
Once you accept that any cake will eventually be overrated and won’t warrant a visit just for itself, you can sit back and enjoy a hot cup chocolate and a tangy slice of Sacher cake. Elegant sitting rooms and a busy atmosphere, not a bad way to end the night.
One of the most traditional, luxurious and visually opulent places in Vienna, among the city's crown jewels. Excellent cuisine blending tradition with creativity, both in the green saloon (Anna Sacher) and in the red bar. Unique and highly enjoyable atmosphere. One of my most beloved places in Vienna.
Went for Sacher cake to hotel's restaurant. I won't comment on cake as it's up to individual taste. I came in at late hour, from rain, and quite tired after whole day of sightseeing. Ordered just coffee with piece of cake to have a taste of Vienna most popular sweet. Apparently I haven't meet waiters requirements or standards as they were very pretentious. Apart from that restaurant is quite nice.
