I booked 2 nights in this Hotel with a group of friends (albeit in a separate room). When I arrived, the staff told me that even if I booked the room with a couple of weeks, they were full and they had to move me to another hotel. I was very upset because the other hotel was 6 km from this one and the staff told me that they were trying to tell me in advance previous days, which is totally false. I didn't receive any communication by phone or email. Moreover, I checked the prices of the hotel they moved me to and were cheaper than this one. So I paid a quantity for this hotel I got a cheaper room in a hotel 6 km far from it. I tried to arrange a refund (at least, the difference between two prices) with the hotel and they refused. So, could I possibly recommend this hotel? No, in any way. I have traveled in South America, Asia, etc... and this is the worst experience in a hotel, without any doubt.
I stayed in Meininger Hotel Downtown Franz with my wife and 2 small kids in a quadruple room. The room was very comfortable and clean, and the facilities in the hotel were excellent. The guest kitchen is a little bit small and may be crowded at dinner time in a high season like the Christmas period. Overall, however, the hotel has the best value for money in Vienna.
I stayed in a 6-persons female only dorm. Was really happy with my stay - the room, the toilet and the shower were all fresh and clean. A little disappointed however at the fact that I found a couple of dark hairs at my sheets (most probably from the laundry washing). Otherwise happy.
This is the 3rd time we have stayed in one of the Menninger Hotels. We loved this one again. Our family of 5 plus one of their cousin were comfortably on a 6 bunk room with private bathrooms. The hotel is clean, great garage, walking distance to downtown and public transportation.
Came here on a school trip in March 2019. Pretty fun stay overall, they'd open up the Foosball table and would let us play pool. That was fun. Staff was able to speak many different languages, the guy that helped us out spoke Italian. Rooms were nice and clean, well decorated. Only complaint is the food; the food is absolutely horrible, 3 of my classmates felt ill after eating there, it tasted very bad. maybe because we were a big group of lame high schoolers and we got served the bad stuff, who knows.
