Don’t miss an opportunity to visit the oldest zoo in the west. Established in 1752 on the premises of the well-known Schönbrun Palace, this zoo is among the few zoos worldwide that nurture the giant panda and polar bear. There are a lot of other animal species like koalas, rhinoceros, giraffes, elephants, jaguars, penguins, sea lions, turtles, giant cloud rats, wolves and orangutans. You will be amazed by the special arrangements that have been made to house the animals in their natural habitat. For example, there is a rainforest house that mimics the weather conditions of the Amazon rainforest and a polarium where Arctic conditions are maintained. Don’t miss the feeding sessions where you can actually feed some animals under supervision. Also, make sure that you take a ride on the panoramic train that takes you through various sites within the palace estate.
