Rather than a square, you can easily call this place a street as it runs between the Karntner Ring section of the Ringstrassee and Lothringerstrassee. It has been named after Schwarzenberg, who was a descendant of one of the most powerful aristocratic families in Bohemia and Central Europe and gained importance for playing an instrumental part in the defeat of Napoleon’s army at the Battle of Leipzig in 1813. There is a fountain known as Hochstrahlbrunnen in the middle of the square that looks beautiful and monumental. Then there is a Red Army Memorial and Schwarzenberg Palace to keep you engaged while you are here.
