Vieques Ferry Terminal, Vieques Reviews
The ferry was comfortable, we got there at 8am ferry left until 11. The tickets sale starts until 10 am seniors first. If you are a tourist they send you to a separate section ( which it made me feel segregated) because they let PR residents go in first then tourists second. Eventhough I was the first one to arrive and purchase a ticket.
Is a great but need a little bit more staff and organization
Ferry ride was ok but like most times, you run into people who just don't know how to act like adults. Even when crew members tried to get them to stop, they refused to listen. Needs a better security system. It's also very disorganized because there are different lines for different ferry on the main Island side. Once you know where you need to be, then get ready for wait time on both sides of the ferry terminal. The price is very cheap in cost. $4 both ways total for adults.
We just did a trip to Vieques for the Bio bay. We decided to fly to Vieques and take the ferry back to Fajardo. After doing both, I would highly recommend flying. You can find flights for $60 bucks - which is a lot more than the $2 ferry ticket - but it is well worth it. The ferry is often late (ours arrived 40 minutes late) and you have to get there an hour early to make sure you get a ticket. I tried calling to reserve tickets, but they never answered the phone. The terminal was super crowded and my group was sitting on the cement floor of the dock for an hour and a half waiting for the ferry. Our flight took 15 minutes (from Cieba); the ferry ride took 90 - plus it was 40 minutes late.
Its the only ferry service to and from the main island of puerto rico..If you are sightseeing ( tourist ) plan ahead with some additional time as the ferry lines are long and the passenger traffic is heavy. When arriving on the island they have a taxi stand ( shuttle drivers ) towards the left of the pier make a run for it as they quickly fill and leave the area leaving you stranded and waiting for another shuttle to arrive. Complimentary Tour Maps are availae at the main strip. The action is located is in the East southern town called Eseranza about a 30 min car drive depending on local traffic. Overall experience this island is a low key layed back Bi-lingual type of atmosphere..Great for nature lovers. Don't expect amusement park/ Miami South Beach type experience you will be disappointed..
