The Reynisfjall Mountain stands at a height of 340 meters and was created from a volcanic eruption under a glacier during the last Ice Age. The mountain’s irregularly oriented tuffs (that show radial shapes haphazardly meeting each other) are a curious site not just for geologists but even for tourists!
The mountain is 5 kilometres long and on outcrops where the underneath rocks are exposed, you can see some of the best volcanic tuffs around the world. Hike around to the top and see the gorgeous Black sand beach and Reynisdrangar sea stacks and you have a sight to cherish for years. The cliffs of the mountain are inhabited by Puffins and during the spring season, the surrounding meadows make for a perfect setting to spend a day sightseeing the natural wonders of Vik. The view of the crescent-shaped coast of North Atlantic ocean from here along with the ‘old-world’ charm of the little village, spins magic for anyone who wants to escape the city life.
