The Church of St. Johns is supposed to date back to the 14th century, but was again reconstructed in the 1600s and was built to honor St John the Baptist and St John the Evangelist. A few structures like the tall tower were added later to the tower when it was being reconstructed. A fire gutted the majority area of the Church in the 18th century and finally in 1827 major renovations were taken place to bring the Church back to its former glory. Though the layout is still Gothic, with its many reconstructions, the overall architecture of the Church is best described as a mixed style. The tower is almost 226 feet tall and gives a panoramic view of the surrounding cityscape.
