There is an unusual exterior that marks the structure of the Holy Mother of God. Built in 14th century, this church serves the purpose of being the Russian Orthodox Cathedral of the city. You will be reminded of Neo-Byzantine design defining the architecture of this church. Ever since its construction, this church has served as the fancy of Vilnius University whose students built dissection rooms in it and then barracks for 1842 soldiers and finally after 1860s was restored as a place of worship for which it was initially built.
