Wanted to see the area where my great uncle died in the First World War and his name recorded on the monument. Also visited various museums and monuments in the Somme. Interesting visit to the tank museum at Flesquieres, too. Memorable visits in this centenary year.
Went here to visit the memorial where my wife's great uncle is remembered. Beautiful, peaceful place.
The depth of the crater make you think no one could survive. A very humbling blace to visit.

The memorial to the missing for over 7,000 men who died in the Battle of Cambrai in November-December 1917. It is beautifully maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. If you visit with a coach group park in the adjacent road as the camber of the parking at the main entrance is difficult for large vehicles.
