Schillerplatz is a cobblestoned square in the old city of Stuttgart, Germany named in honour of the German poet, philosopher, historian and dramatist Friedrich Schiller. During the World War II, the buildings around Schillerplatz were burnt down but most of them were reconstructed after the war. These buildings are the Collegiate Church, the Fruchtkasten, the Prinzenbau, the Old Chancellery and the Old Castle. The street market takes place twice a week on Schillerplatz and during this time it is buzzing with people. The square is also used for many events such as the Christmas market as well as different music festivals. A well-kept secret (in a way) is the underground car park. Schillerplatz is a great place to spend your evening and admire the constructions of the different buildings as well as to get some shopping done!
