Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial - Review
Lawrence Halprin is the famous architect of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) Memorial. The 32nd president of the USA who served four terms in office has been honoured by dividing the place into 4 symbolic rooms. Statues and paintings depicting his life and history as an American President adorn the walls. The exhibits involve several major epochs in history including the Great Depression and of course World War II.
The red stone building is unique due to the fact that it was one of the first places of interest that were made accessible by wheelchair. Given FDR’s personal life, this gesture was quite fitting and necessary. Eleanor Roosevelt’s bronze statue also enhances the place. It is a very popular tourist attraction and the memory of the beloved president still remains fresh here.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, Washington D. C. Reviews
This is an amazing National Park Service Site. Whether visiting the presidential memorial at night or during the day, the beauty and tranquility of this attraction can have a really spiritual effect on visitors. Also, home of my second date with my now wife 12 years ago! Wonderful site. Whether you are local or touring DC, do not miss this one.
This a great place to visit. I went early in the morning. There were very few people around and was able to get great photos. It is split into sections for each of his terms as President and has many of his memorable quotes. I really enjoyed going and walking around to see it.
This was one of my favorite places around the Washington Mall. FDR was a great man, and an exceptional president. Whether or not you agree with his politics you have to admire his accomplishments. This memorial pays homage to him and to Eleanor as well. There is beautiful architecture and stonework throughout. Many of his more memorable quotes are elegantly placed throughout the memorial. He was an eloquent, empathetic man and has no rival among 20th century presidents for his impact to the United States, with the possible exception of Teddy Roosevelt. The memorial progresses through his 4 terms as president chronologically. Each section is full of history and is beautifully done.
Amazing memorial to walk over to. Lots of great quotes that really show how great of a president Franklin D. Roosevelt was. Beautiful water fountains, and great views of the water. They have a gift shop and a couple of restrooms. The water fountains around this area don't work though, so make sure to bring water.
We did the Hop-on-Hop-off bus tour and saw this in the twilight tour. When we got there, the sun had already set. I'm going to give Matthew, the tour curator, did an excellent job on the entire tour. My favorite part was the FDR memorial. He was very passionate and informative. I highly recommend if you don't know the history of FDR, that you consider a guided tour of the memorial. Seeing it at night was real neat too.
