Frederick Douglass National Historic Site Reviews & Ratings
I had a wonderful experience today at Fredrick Douglass' historical home. The ranger, Kevin Bryant was excellent! I truly felt like Kevin was a friend showing me this treasure of a home and sharing the history of the people who once lived there. I toured the Douglass home, saw the video which was well done. Then I purchased a book from the book store. What a wonderful experience!
It was really insightful to learn the history of Frederick Douglas and all his contributions to US history. Touring his house was definitely interesting, as we saw so many original items which illustrated how advanced society has become. The guides were excellent in answering questions and rich in knowledge.
What a hidden Gem in DC. I've been to DC at least 10 times before I went here. AMAZING!!! Great, knowledgeably, enthusiastic staff. I'm a 30 year high school US History teacher and I even learned things I did not know that filled in parts of other stories in US history. This is the greatest place that few know about. Beautiful preservation of the legacy of an American hero. Do NOT miss this. Make sure you make reservations because the tour groups are small but you will get amazing attention. Ask questions because the guides know their history and love to answer questions.
AMAZING tour. Our guild was very knowledgable and enjoyed what she does. I forgot to get her name but if u go she is a young black lady with dreads. You won't be disappointed.
This was amazing to see again. The view of DC from his home was breathe taking. Will vist again
