Great Falls Park, Washington D. C. Reviews
This is one of my favorite places in Virginia, I love to walk my dog here or just sit and look at the beauty around me. It's a great place to spend a day, especially in the springtime. Just try not to go around rush hour because this area gets slammed with traffic and bring some bug spray if you're walking on the wooded trails. It's a beautiful place to enjoy nature and some spectacular views (especially for photographers). Enjoy!
Fabulous Park, just outside the city! A lovely drive for a weekend. —>TIP It’s just a $10 ticket to get in for three days, so go when you are able to come back & make it worth it. There are tons of trails throughout the massive park, and really amazing sights! Right now (April 2018) the falls are high water level...about 5 1/2 feet. The three viewing areas near the funky visitor’s center are easily navigated & handicap accessible. —>TIP In order of spectacular views, the best is viewing area #3, then #2, then #1 (though #1 is closest to the greatest falls themselves). There is an informative and interactive visitor’s center, with a snack shop below. Fill your reusable water bottles there, instead of using plastic ones. The bathrooms are located outside of the visitors center on the lower portion. —>TIP Don’t go off the trail or attempt to get in the water. The current is always swifter than it looks from above. There were burly search & rescue men hard at work when we were there. Enjoy nature all year ‘round here!
This is one of my favorite places to go. Whenever the weather is awesome and it’s a weekend, I always go here. Each time I go I’m absolutely stunned by the scene of the flowing Potomac river. The hikes are amazing and romantic too ! Lots of open spaces to sit down and have a quick bite or chit chat with friends. I will recommend this place to nature lovers and people who enjoy nature walking / hiking.
It is one of DC area "must visit" places. The view is spectacular specially in the spring. It is a perfect place to relax, enjoy time with kids and family, BBQ , or even a romantic date. There are too many activities to do. It has a visitor center where you can get more information about the park and the wild life in it. The park is huge and well maintained. Restrooms are clean though, they close at 5pm :( while the park closes at dark .
Outstanding trip here every time. When you approach the falls you will hear "wow" often. For some reason tons of people take beautiful dogs here daily. Hiking galore, some spelunking as well. There is a small food stand with high school lunch style food. Nothing gourmet, but available if needed. Restrooms on site and lots of cool stuff like kayaks and helicopters occasionally hit the falls. Fun to see!
