Thomas Jefferson Memorial - Review
Corinthian columns and the low dome cover the statue of Thomas Jefferson at the Jefferson Memorial. It holds a 19-feet statue of Thomas Jefferson. Extracts from the Declaration of Independence written by him have been displayed in the southwest inner part divider. Thomas Jefferson is perhaps one of the most important figures in American history.
It is estimated that around 2 million people visit this wonderful memorial and walk up the impressive marble steps every single year. The place is quite beautiful in the day but it looks stunning when lit up at night so do try to visit in the evening to enjoy both these facets of it.

Thomas Jefferson Memorial, Washington D. C. Reviews
Terrific monument that does not disappoint. Perhaps a bit less emotional impact than the Lincoln Memorial but less crowded and as inspirational-but the distance from the rest of the monuments in the area and the fewer people leaves more "space" for contemplation. Some of the exhibit space is in a lower level and worth checking out. From a photography point of view a good subject from different angles. I would like to visit at night.
Do you know who is known as the main author of the declaration of independence? Thomas Jefferson (April 13, [O.S. April 2] 1743 – July 4, 1826) was an American Founding Father who was the principal author of the Declaration of Independence and later served as the third President of the United States from 1801 to 1809. Previously, he had been elected the second Vice President of the United States, serving under John Adams from 1797 to 1801. He was a proponent of democracy, republicanism, and individual rights motivating American colonists to break from Great Britain and form a new nation; he produced formative documents and decisions at both the state and national level. Impressive presidential memorial dedicated to Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence and 3rd President of the United States. Situated on the south side of the Tidal Basin, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial has a truly striking Neoclassical architecture, which is also favored by Thomas Jefferson himself. The most best timing to visit, in my humble opinion, is late afternoon! That's because you will get to also catch the spectacular sunset with magnificent rays of the sunlight shining into Thomas Jefferson Memorial, making it looks so stunningly beautiful!
Many people come to DC and almost nobody misses the Lincoln Memorial, but poor Tom Jefferson, his Memorial, which is truly beautiful and in a lovely location right on the Tidal Basin, is undervisited. I took a sightseeing bus that stopped at Memorials to less important figures, but didn’t even slow down for us to take a photo. I went back on my own, and I was glad that I did. This memorial is serene and majestic, paying homage to both Jefferson’s most famous speeches and writings as well as a tacit tip of the hat to his Monticello home in the architecture of the building itself. It’s a great place to take some photos at sundown or any time, so I would highly recommend you come and visit.
First time ever going and glad I did. Very impressed with the size and scale of the entire memorial. Even on a Fall Saturday morning it was not as crowed as I thought it was going to be or at least if it was it did not seem as though bc of the size. Highly recommend going and just setting on the steps. The views are great all around.
