Meadows, rocks, and hiking trails, the Hidden Valley preserve has something for everyone. Nature lover or an adventurous trekker, this 650-acre tract into the thick woodlands on (mostly) unmarked trails will take you on an enriching journey. Donated by the Van Sinderen family, Hidden Valley is a section in northeast Depot. It also has a footbridge built in the late 20th century across the Shepaug River and a quartz mine. From brightly coloured flowers of spring to auburn leaves of autumn, if green, brown and blue are your colours, then this is definitely the place for you.

  • It was very overcast and a bit drizzling when I went but overall I really liked walking around the preserve and taking photos at the suspension bridge. I didn't get to delve too far into more of it but next time I definitely will on a better day perhaps.

  • Beautiful River and grade walking spot. Very cool little suspension bridge.

  • Beautiful trails, well maintained, clearly marked, love the suspension bridges.

  • Great hiking though at times the gnats and mosquitos can be swarming (they were today).
