This is a historically important site and the place where Edmund Rice- Christian missionary, educationalist and humanitarian started his great mission towards empowering poor and uneducated. Converting his home into a monastery and centre of work, this site was redeveloped by Christian and Presentation Brothers after his death. Today, the centre serves as a training and education centre which strives on Edmund’s Rice’s principles of learning and affection.

The centre which was a former home of Mr. Rice is spread over 6 rooms including kitchen, parlour, breakfast room and three bedrooms and is 300 years old.

The room where Edmund Rice was born and the chapel are particularly interesting to the visitors. The Chapel also houses the tomb of Mr. Rice and its striking circular shape and sandstone and glass decor makes it more appealing.

You can learn about the history of Waterford and the life of Edmund Rice at the in-house museum via an interactive learning experience.
