As the name suggests, the charming Park an der Ilm is located along the river Ilm. Created in between 1778 and 1828, the landscaped park was heavily influenced by Johann Wolfgang Goethe. The park along with the gardens of Belvedere and Tiefurt castle form a long greenway along the river.
The Park an der Ilm is an institution of the Klassik Stiftung-the UNESCO World Heritage site consisting of multiple structures across Weimar. The main attractions of the park consist of –
- The Roman House

- Garden House
- The Shakespeare Monument
- Busts of poets such as Alexander Puschkin, Louis Fürnberg, Adam Mickiewicz and Sandor Petofi

With maples, chestnuts and hornbeams, the park has a distinct beauty to it and is almost like an oasis. The park has been carefully preserved since Goethe and hasn’t changed much since then. Park An Der Ilm, Weimar Reviews - Write a Review
Park an der Ilm is one of the most beautiful parks in Germany. The park is located on both banks of the river Ilm. You can find thousands of local and foreign trees in the park from ash trees to maples. There are numerous stunning buildings such as the Roman House and the Tempelherrenhaus. You can also find statues and monuments of famous artists from Franz Liszt to William Shakespeare. You can spend an entire day here without ever getting bored.
Nice, quiet park with lots of things to see.
My favourite place in Weimar, you can easily find your spot here no matter whether you wanna do sports or just relax under a tree. I would also say the park is very safe at night but it's super dark because no lights were installed, so be safe.
A lovely park in beautiful Weimar that can easily be explored. Lots of hidden places of cultural value and more often then not young musicians practise there and fill corners of the park with classical music.
Beautiful park! Like it! Hope I will come here again.
